Getting Started
How do I create a counter?
Open DarkZen and tap the plus button on the home screen. Give your counter a label (anything you want — for example, "Started gym", "Sober", "Reading every day"), choose a start date, and save. Your counter will begin tracking days from that date.
How do I reset a counter?
Open the counter and tap Reset. You can optionally add a short note for yourself, and the counter will start again from day zero. Your best streak is preserved automatically.
How many counters can I create?
You can create as many counters as you like. Each counter tracks its current streak and your best streak independently.
What are milestones?
DarkZen recognises milestones at 1, 7, 30, 90, 180, and 365 days with a subtle celebration. They're there to give you a small boost when you hit a meaningful point.
Essays
Where do I find the essays?
Tap the Reading tab to browse the essay library. Essays are short, read-only pieces on discipline, focus, habits, and classical philosophy.
Are essays available offline?
Yes. Once an essay has loaded, you can read it again without an internet connection.
Account & Subscription
How do I sign in?
You can sign in with Apple or Google, or with your email address. We use industry-standard authentication and never see your password for your social accounts.
How do I manage my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). To manage, pause, or cancel your subscription:
- iOS: Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Android: Open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app. We'll remove your account and associated data within 30 days. You can also email us at hello@darkzen.app and we'll take care of it.
Troubleshooting
My counter shows the wrong number of days.
Check the start date on the counter and make sure your device's date and time are set automatically. If the problem continues, email us with a screenshot.
The app crashed or behaves unexpectedly.
Try closing the app fully and reopening it. If the issue persists, update to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. If you're still seeing trouble, email hello@darkzen.app with your device model and OS version.
